Telma Hoyler

Director

Telma Hoyler is a visual artist, documentary filmmaker, and academic lecturer based in São Paulo. Her research explores the complex web of human interactions while reflecting on the practice of democracy. Through her work, she seeks to provoke reflection on how we coexist in the world.

Her creative process is multifaceted, incorporating writing, sewing, collage, drawing, and the appropriation of images and sounds for video and sound installations. Drawing and textile language are central to her practice, alongside the creation of series over time and site-specific projects that emerge through her engagement with public and exhibition spaces.

With a PhD in Political Science from the University of São Paulo (2017-2022), an exchange program at Sciences Po (Paris, 2019-2020), and a postdoctoral fellowship at University College London (2023), her work transcends traditional academic boundaries.

Território marks her debut film, where the boundaries between politics, sensory experience, and artistic expression converge.
